Typical applications include laboratory automation, robotics, quality control and data management and analysis, management of large databases, statistical analysis, curve fitting and general graphical handling of data. Other research goals are the integration of video and audio in a computing environment, intra- and inter-network database management, and the application of modern methodologies to computationally explosive problems, such as DNA/RNA chain sequence analysis.
